This is a renovation/addition project for an existing mid-century modern house built by the client’s grandparents just north of Philadelphia, PA.
The challenge was that the clients have a very modern existing home, but they like the look of a traditional timber frame, so the addition aims to capture the charm and character of traditional timber framing, while nodding to the mid-century soul of the existing building.
The existing portion will keep the main structure but will be wrapped with a layer of insulation and clad in vertical wood siding that hints to the agricultural setting.
