New Energy Works operates on the triple bottom line—a simple belief that people, planet, and profit work together to ensure a better future. Our coworkers are more than just employees, they’re part of what makes our company successful.
At New Energy Works every individual has an ownership mentality, because we are 100% Employee-Owned as an ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan). Being Employee-Owned means every employee has a vested interest in the profitability of the company, the cultural values we represent, and the quality work we do.
Accordingly, we offer our team flexibility, competitive compensation, and a comprehensive benefits package that includes the largest wealth building tool an employer can provide—an employee stock ownership plan.
100% Employee-Owned
In 2018 we started our transition from single ownership of our founder Jonathan Orpin, and in 2022 became a 100% employee-owned company as an ESOP, one of about 8,000 ESOP businesses in the country.
An ESOP (or Employee Stock Ownership Plan) is an employee benefit plan that enables coworkers as a group to own interest in part, or all, of a business in the form of shares of stock. It is also a type of Trust that acts as a retirement plan, similar to a 401K, by investing in company stock and holding its assets in the Trust for employee-owners, at no cost to those employee-owners, that also increases employee retention long term.
Having long operated on the triple bottom line—a simple belief that people, planet, and profit work together to ensure a better future, the New Energy Works transition to employee-ownership is intended to ensure the environmental and social commitments the business was founded on 30+ years ago continue far into the future.

Our Shared Values
Values are what we hold ourselves accountable to as coworkers and team members. These are how we show up every day, how we make decisions, and how we grow within the companies. We’re always working to be even better at achieving these values and it is how we are evaluated by our peers & Managers. We also use them to evaluate new members to the team.
- Craftsmanship: We support the hand of the maker and believe in the character & compassion that shows through the details of our peoples’ work.
- Build Better: We cut the wake, striving to be leaders in innovative materials, design, and process so that buildings are part of the climate solution.
- Ownership: We are committed for the long term and share in the results of our decisions. We make intentional choices so that we have a planet for people to love.
- We treasure our reputation: We believe that showing up honestly for our clients, coworkers, and community builds a stronger company that leads to our best work. When things aren't right, we fix them; when we succeed, we do it together.
- The beauties of wood: We have great respect for the material and celebrate the potentials in a patent owned by nature.
