Reclaimed agricultural timbers come in a mixture of species–mostly due to what was available from the build site during construction of the original structure. We caught Jake as he was quite firmly pounding away at a timber pocket on a Hickory timber. "Way more difficult to work with than the Poplar ones," Jake told us, pointing to several of the softer hardwood timbers that already sported finished mortise pockets and tenons. Jake's antique Hickory timber, in addition to those around him, are finding new life in an East Coast residence.
