Recently our sister company Pioneer Millworks reclaimed oak timbers from a barn in Kentucky. While this isn't unusual, the length (55 feet!) and condition (nearly perfectly straight!) of the timbers was. Hand hewn, the huge timbers were part of a barn raised in the mid 1800's. By our estimates, the slow growing oak had to be around 200 years old when it was cut. That means they are now over 350 years old - but they aren't done yet. We’ll help them spend several more decades as a timber frame home.
