Usually Spring is officially marked for us by the annual Wild Water Derby in Shortsville, NY. Last year the event was posponed due to exteremly high water levels. This year the event has been cancelled due to the opposite problem - too little water. Without much snow this winter and no rain to speak of in the past few weeks, the water level is much too low. We'll keep our fingers crossed for better luck with the weather next year! (Photo © Dave Spier)
