Over the years we’ve had a great deal of fun working with boathouses and with Leif Kallquist of Holmes King & Kallquist Architects in Syracuse, New York. This frame was built with recycled heart pine timbers and Ornamental metal post bottom pulled downs.

This home for John and Carol was built in the Finger Lakes a few years back
This home for John and Carol was built in the Finger Lakes a few years back, and used barn siding to help it find its new place within the agrarian landscape it now inhabits. We used a consistently red hew of weathered board for a slightly warmer feel.

This home was recently featured in the fall issue of Wood Design & Building magazine entitled, “Lighthouse Home”
When we built George and Priscilla Slocum's home on Cayuga lake, we loved George's suggestion of a nautical theme, both in respect to the waterway, and to his ancestor Joshua Slocum, the first man to solo circumnavigate the planet. The home was recently featured in the fall issue of Wood Design & Building magazine entitled, “Lighthouse Home”.

Lakeside timber frame home
Overlooking one of the Finger Lakes, construction of this timber frame home considers the landscape by respecting the site’s slope and carefully maintaining existing dogwood trees. The southern exposure is managed with an eyebrow dormer and carefully placed vertical windows to minimize solar heat gain and light glare from the lake.

Welcome to New Energy Works

Hello, and thanks for visiting.

For over twenty years, New Energy Works has been one of the nation's preeminent timber frame home builders. We offer a range of services including timberframe design, fine woodworking, timber frame enclosure services utilizing SIP's and of course, some of the most elegant and lyrical timber frames in the industry.

We’ve had the privilege of working with some great clients. Some have been struggling young couples who want a modest home in the Finger Lakes region of New York – others have been high-end architects and builders creating magnificent lodges high in the mountains of Colorado — others still are interested in building in Portland, Oregon, one of the greenest states in the US. Their common denominator is the love of fine wood, elegant design, sustainable design and old-world craftsmanship.

We hope that you'll explore our website and revisit it regularly. In the years that we've been online, we've found this site to be an invaluable design resource, one that has evolved and improved through input from people like you. We always appreciate your comments - keep in touch.
