Dave, from Pioneer Millworks, uncovered this piece of history while salvaging an old barn, long past its prime. An ironic find considering the 1939 World's Fair was the first expo to explore "the world of tomorrow". For info on the wood countertop, call us! Labels: Salvaged barn world fair find
Testament to the kind of customer service we're known for, one of our Alaskan prospects sent a basket filled with local goodies to thank the team for their attentiveness and hard work in pulling together designs and estimates for his Alaskan timber frame home. Labels: Customer Service
A cabin in the woods for Dave and Kate and their wonderful kids and extended family gets a lot of use throughout the year on land that has been in the family for many years. The timbers were cut off the land itself.

Will is the one timber framer we can count on to take great photos at our job sites. When he’s not working on timber frames, you can find him refinishing furniture or snowboard shredding on a snowy day.

A suggestion of Japanese influence is seen here in the smaller timber members and curved natural shapes for a master bedroom wing in a recent project in Mendon, NY. Our client supplied the cherry logs off of his own land for inclusion.

This lakeside home includes a covered timber porch. The complex truss is consistent inside and out, and the truss at the wall includes glass cut to fit between the timbers themselves. This is best done with very stable wood like these salvaged and resawn Doug fir timbers.

Cold and lots of snow encouraged a weekend voyage by some of our crew. Mike, Tanya, Alex and Megan (behind the camera) met at a popular sledding spot just around the corner from our shop. From what we can tell there was plenty of powder kicking around and we hear some wicked hills were tackled.

When David said he wanted to include natural elements, we didn't think he meant a tree off his land. Here we are fitting the tree to the resulting volumes of the timber frame itself.

Jon and Bee Perkins sent us this image of their table setting just prior to a holiday gathering. When they asked us to design a dining room suite to go with their new home, they mentioned "briskly contemporary, with a top that seems to be floating." We combined steel, wood and leather in the final creation. Labels: new woodworks

Hello, and thanks for visiting.
For over twenty years,
New Energy Works has been one of the nation's preeminent
timber frame home builders. We offer a range of services
including timberframe design, fine woodworking, timber
frame enclosure services utilizing SIP's and of course,
some of the most elegant and lyrical timber frames in
the industry.
Weve had the
privilege of working with some great clients. Some have
been struggling young couples who want a modest home
in the Finger Lakes region of New York others
have been high-end architects and builders creating
magnificent lodges high in the mountains of Colorado — others still are interested in building in Portland, Oregon, one of the greenest states in the US.
Their common denominator is the love of fine wood, elegant
design, sustainable design and old-world craftsmanship.
We hope that you'll
explore our website and revisit it regularly. In the
years that we've been online, we've found this site
to be an invaluable design resource, one that has evolved
and improved through input from people like you. We
always appreciate your comments - keep in touch.
