Timber frame homes, post & beam homes, trusses, timbers, custom design/build timberframers using recyled and sustainable wood. Come to one of our open houses or raisings to see what we are all about.
New Energy Works folks share a day on the slopes at the Bristol Mountain Ski
Patrol Hut, where we were hosted by the patrollers in honor of our work in
designing and raising their new home.
Mike and Amy are able to enjoy the lake and mature landscape year-round in their timber frame cottage. HardiePlank® siding wraps around the Douglas fir frame of this home.
Creating a porch and entry way, this frame of re-sawn industrial salvage Douglas fir features curved porch timbers and deeply curved bottom chord trusses with thru tenons. It was recently raised in conjunction with David Lee & Company near Skaneateles Lake.
As part of our office remodel, custom desk countertops of reclaimed beech, elm, oak and ash – known as Autumn Woods - were created by NEWwoodworks. Through teamwork (and muscle) the tops were moved and installed in our upstairs addition.
This Douglas fir queen post truss system creates an open great room and front entry corridor. The raising is set to take place today in Milton, Ontario Canada (south west of Toronto).
Reclaimed jarrah flooring and stair treads combine with Douglas Fir custom built-in shelving, window casing, baseboard and timber posts down the master wing of this upstate New York home.”
Curving great room windows provide an open view while flowing with curved bottom chord king post trusses and live edge siding. Note the small green house and open porches that keep Dave, Kate, Quinn, Phil, Knox and Thea connected with nature.
Iain joined us eight years ago as a member of the timber frame shop before assuming his duties as marketing manager, and now he's leading our west coast timber frame team. Prior to being a hewer of wood, he futzed around as a guide & outfitter after a longish spell as an infantry officer. See Iain in person this weekend at the Portland Spring Home & Garden Show at the Portland Expo Center.
After the final peg has been placed and the traditional pine bough tacked to the peak of the truss, the raising crew poses proudly. Note the curving porch rafters behind them and the curved bottom chord in front of them.

Always in motion, shop foreman and master timberwright Mike Gullace walks among Douglas fir trusses while studying plans. On raising day and in the shop, our timber framers frequently reference blueprints developed in conjunction with our engineering department.

Our goal was to creat a cottage-scale, street-side presentation, as the home sets into the lake-side hill. A welcoming porch, FSC white cedar shingles & period windows all support this effort.
This peeled beam is the meeting point for an octagonal timberframe roof and the loft area floor structure. In the background note a gable dormer which will allow more natural light into the loft space.
Armando enjoys lifting weights and finds a great crossover to work as he lifts and sorts flooring at Pioneer Millworks. He and his wife are proud parents of three, but are empty nesters. (Their cat gismo is basking in their undivided attention.) During good weather Armando can be found making tracks on his bike alongside his brother Jerry.
This early rendering of a home to be built in Mendon, New York aims to give a conceptual understanding of the materials, form and fenestration of the house.
A central circulating corridor brings family and friends deep into the living space of this home.
We know that Dave and Jean will enjoy having a sneak peak of their front door designed by NEWwoodworks and seen here approaching the final stages of production. Constructed of recmlaimed sinker cypress this door is sure to create a sturdy, secure entrance. The slight curve of the large lower window mimics the curves of the trusses in their timber frame home.

Hello, and thanks for visiting.
For over twenty years,
New Energy Works has been one of the nation's preeminent
timber frame home builders. We offer a range of services
including timberframe design, fine woodworking, timber
frame enclosure services utilizing SIP's and of course,
some of the most elegant and lyrical timber frames in
the industry.
Weve had the
privilege of working with some great clients. Some have
been struggling young couples who want a modest home
in the Finger Lakes region of New York others
have been high-end architects and builders creating
magnificent lodges high in the mountains of Colorado — others still are interested in building in Portland, Oregon, one of the greenest states in the US.
Their common denominator is the love of fine wood, elegant
design, sustainable design and old-world craftsmanship.
We hope that you'll
explore our website and revisit it regularly. In the
years that we've been online, we've found this site
to be an invaluable design resource, one that has evolved
and improved through input from people like you. We
always appreciate your comments - keep in touch.
