The
Allen Residence
As
a general rule, our clients live in the homes we build
for them for a long time. Sometimes though, plans,
life, family and careers force a change and as always,
change brings opportunity. The opportunity in this
case is to purchase a timber frame home, ready built
and without the long lead time normally associated
with the design and build process.
We
built this fine house in 2000 as a General Contract
and are now delighted to be able to help the Allens

Located
in Penfield, NY the house sits on a park-like one acre lot
in a quiet cul-de-sac. The design is classic New Energy
Works and features Craftsman-style reverse layout, with
the living room, kitchen and master suite on the upper level
and the children's living area, laundry and office on the
lower. The frame is crafted in antique Douglas fir frame
with an energy efficient panel enclosure system (energy
star tested). Quality details abound, from the NEW Woodworks
custom kitchen in cherry and fir, to the TempCast masonry
heater which doubles as a wood-fired bread oven, to the
slate tile entryway. Pioneer Millworks also got to show
off their wares with an ash floor recovered from an 1830's
barn.
