Jonathan Orpin
When in his creative mode this VIP is head of the architectural
team. We send Jonathan to meet with clients who are
in the designing stages of their dream home process
because his acute sense of room transition and home
design panache are matched only by his subtle wit and
crazy hair styles. |

Anne Shean
Anne may be new to our group, but she's certainly not new to the industry. After years working, er skiing, in Vail, Colorado with a large developer, she and hubby, Karl, returned to their roots in Canandaigua to start a family. When she's not raising a frame, you'll find her raising the joys of her life, Ethan and Elizabeth. |
 |
Brian Mosch
Brian heads up the engineering department and is also
in charge of the timber frame division. When he's not
scheduling production, ordering timbers and designing
frames, he water skis on Keuka Lake. |
 |
Ty Allen
Joining us after attending Cornell & years specializing in ecclesiastical architecture at a Rochester architectural firm - Ty made himself at home in the loft next to our engineers. He & wife Kellie just had Elijah this past year so life is filled with newness & change. A few things have stayed the same - like his dedication to the NY Giants, his love for cycling & his busy social schedule with his family [who also happen to be his neighbors.] |
 |
John Nihart
John just surfaced from years designing trade show booths and now he's part of our architecture department. A sculptor at heart, John spends a great deal of his free time in the art world exhibiting his work in regional & national shows. And then there are the times when he's simply away from it all - just him & wife Jamelle, daughters Alison & Heather, their dog Luca and his kayak. |
 |
Maxine Bromfield
Maxine is our resident interior designer and chooser
of color, texture, shape and form. Although you can
sometimes find her in clients' projects, you'll have
better luck tracking her down if you first look for
her young son Jake. Maxine will be the woman about four
paces behind him with arms outstretched. |
 |
Tanya Lillehoff
Tanya spent her formative years in Bismarck, ND., so Rochester seems like the Caribbean in comparison. She splits her time at NEW between interior & architectural design which is a pretty good fit, seeing as how her academic work focused on the interplay between human consciousness and architecture. She enjoys Scrabble, exploring the culinary traditions of India, running & keeping in touch with her five siblings. |
 |
Barry Duerr
A native from the snow belt, just south of Buffalo, Barry is a real trooper: he moved to Rochester to take this position, knowing he'll soon be shipped off to our Portland workshop. When he's not rummaging around in his Jeep (we're not convinced he's not living out of it), he can be found in the woods negotiating steep climbs and scary descents on his mountain bike or slinging arrows. Barry brings not only his Buffalo dialect, but his smarts and know how for architectural interior design, museum exhibit design and fabrication. |
 |
Mike Beganyi
Mike left our design-loft a few years back for the sugary forests of Vermont to act as our New England Representative. The move's been refreshing and he’s found a whole new set of challenging hills for his long distance cycling habit. He & Jen manage to squeeze in a bit of personal travel once in a while but they'll be settling down in the next year as they will start training their little one (on the way!) in the finer points of trail running & snowshoeing. |
 |
Mike Harvey
When not hacking divots out of the fairway, Mike is
responsible for designing and estimating timber frames.
His background is in the aeronautical field, designing
aircraft for Boeing, but he prefers wood to aluminum.
Other hobbies include coaching soccer and woodworking
on both a large and small scale - he recently fabricated
the timber frame trusses for his garage. |
 |
Dave Gruschow
Dave's been with us for a little over a year now and
he's been accepted by the timber framers as he rides
a motorcycle & a '68 ford pickup. Recently married
in a museum, (no kidding!) he comes from a family of
farming engineers and he's just bought a house to fix
up. An RIT grad, he swapped designing tractor trailers
for timber frames. |
 |
Eric Fraser
Another RIT graduate - Eric went straight from school to being a mechanical engineer for an aerospace company and then to his desk upstairs. He's been trying out his wings as husband since he & Heather married this April - and now she tries to catch him as he dashes down a snowy mountain on his skis or down a muddy incline on his mountain bike. |
 |
Darren Watson
Darren’s a transplant from the West coast where he spent several years in the timber frame industry. Another office spider – he spends quite a bit of time at bottom of cliffs admiring the view and then climbing up them. His creative talents have lead him to a love of furniture making, home remodeling and piquant dog-naming skills. [His Golden’s name is Charlie Brown.] |
 |
John Szyklinski
John can be found using his truck for weekend landscaping and roofing jobs, or for hauling his step children to soccer games. He and his better half, Laurie, live the rewards, excitement and challenges of having four kids. Laurie is busy helping their oldest daughter plan her wedding but John grabs her for a quiet moment whenever possible. Ice hockey, kayaking and camping are his choice stress relievers, but really John is happiest when knee deep in dirt with his shovel in hand. |
 |
John Adamski
John is one of our designers and has more experience
in the building industry than just about anyone here,
having run his own construction company, design firm
and created over 2000 homes. John's other interests
include travel and fishing. He's also a freelance writer
and superb wildlife photographer.
